The Manager, Strategy is accountable for shaping Sobeys long-term e-commerce strategy based on evolving customer needs and company objectives, and executing the e-commerce strategy to deliver e-commerce P&L.

Job Description

In this exciting and challenging role you will: 

Drive e-commerce strategy and national roadmap

  • Define and execute the national roadmap for e-commerce, including fulfillment and delivery, leveraging the Ocado solution
  • Monitor the external environment, including macroeconomic trends, competitive activity, retail and customer trends. Identify threats and opportunities
  • Proactively identify opportunities and deliver data-driven insights to help improve the accuracy and reliability of forecasts, targets and financial plan
  • Optimization of Voila by Sobeys delivery network, providing detailed analysis to improve operational efficiencies
  • Assess impacts of different geographies strategically, using predictive/statistical modeling techniques to identify and quantify unique building blocks, conduct what-if scenario analysis and measure the causal impact of results

Support key decisions and governance

  • Work with core business and e-commerce team on large strategic projects and recommendations for decisions, through hypotheses, research, facilitated discussion and data analysis that drive insights
  • Communicate e-commerce financial, strategic, and business results to core team and management team
  • Shape materials for management meetings and board meetings

Own end-to-end customer experience

  • Use data and analytics to identify and prioritize initiatives that improve the customer experience, maximize sales and conversion, and increase satisfaction
  • Work with cross functional teams in merchandising, marketing, operations, and IT to optimize the end-to-end experience across multiple channels and touch points

Support Key Accountabilities

  • Work closely with Director Strategy & Finance, E-Commerce to drive the Voila Roadmap
  • Sobey’s store teams: merchandising / category management, forecasting and replenishment, marketing, operations, HR, finance, and IT
  • Sobey’s e-commerce teams: merchandising / category management, forecasting and replenishment, marketing, operations, and delivery operations
  • Work with SVP, E-Commerce to support executive materials and market insights
  • Work with Real Estate to identify and drive future E-Commerce Capital Asset requirements

Job Requirements

Your Resume and experience will show:

  • Minimum of 4-7 years related work experience
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering.
  • Ideal experience from a Consulting or Transaction Services (Big 4) background
  • MBA and/or Professional designation or working towards one
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
  • Significant experience in building strategic models
  • Project management exposure
